Happy 4th of July!

And Your Publisher's 10th Birthday!

By G. Pridgen of Macaroni Kid Coral Springs & Boca Raton-Parkland Editions July 2, 2021

Greetings Macaroni Kid Families! This July marks my 10th birthday of publishing your Macaroni Kid local newsletter! Happy 10 years to you all and I am so grateful for each of my readers! July is a wonderful time of rest and refresh as our families take vacations and our kids take a break from regular school routines. This weekend we will also celebrate our nation's birthday on July 4.

Here is a short history of the 4th. On July 4, 1776, our country's founders declared independence. It all started over the end of the French and Indian War and this war had to be paid for. The colonists were angry they had no real decision making power in how to vote to pay taxes to the British government and so, Thomas Jefferson wrote that famous letter to King George, which is known as the Declaration of Independence. It was signed by 56 men representing each of the 13 colonies. The first, and largest, signature on the letter is John Hancock’s. Some people say he wrote his name large so that King George would be able to read it without his glasses! The first public Fourth of July celebration at the White House took place in 1804, and finally, almost 100 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed, Congress declared July 4 to be a national holiday for the United States of America. And that’s why we celebrate!

Celebrating America's birthday couldn't be better here in the sun. Almost near perfect when it comes to celebrating, South Floridians have several choices from the south to the more northern areas of Broward. Below is our list, highlighting best places to spend the 4th. We hope you enjoy browsing, as we remember this very special day for all in America, The Beautiful.
