MK AOK Day 2015 (Macaroni Kid Act of Kindness Day) is September 19th

To benefit The GIVT at Art Paper Scissors in Parkland

By Macaroni Kid Boca Raton & Parkland Editor August 27, 2015
Macaroni Kid’s very purpose is to find family-friendly events in the area and to share them with our local families.  It is true, we aim for the fun and enrichment but it is our intention to provide support to local non-profits and/or organizations that seek to make this world a better place for others. Enter MK AOK Day 2015 (Macaroni Kid Act of Kindness Day)! This September, Macaroni Kid would like to deepen our mission to empower families with a heartfelt community drive to benefit The GIVT.

About The GIVT

GIVT is a child focused faith-based non-profit. Their mission is to improve the lives of children in the community. Through many channels they raise awareness and provide hope and essential tools to empower children.  During the next few months, The GIVT wants to raise awareness regarding the needs of pre-teen and teen girls in our local community. Did you know that girls skip school an average of 5-8 days per month because they do not have pads during menstruation? Did you know that students who attend Title 1 schools (more than 50% of students are economically disadvantaged) are less likely to have the personal resources they need?

MK AOK Day

On September 19, Macaroni Kid Publishers in the Broward area (Hollywood-Aventura, Weston-Davie, Pembroke Pines-Miramar, Plantation-Coral Springs-Coconut Creek, and Parkland-Boca), alongside mom-preneurs and other volunteers will get together at Art Paper Scissors in Parkland to attend “Little Ladies Survival Kits” Party, where attendees will prepare and organize items for some very special girls.

The GIVT and Macaroni Kid have partnered to make this happen and we have set a goal of collecting 1,000 sanitary pads among other items like panties, razor blades, shampoo & conditioner, hair accessories, lotions, deodorant, hand-sanitizer, Kleenex.
